I caught this fantastic production when it was on television here in Canada last year. At the time, I maintain it was only available on DVD in the UK, so to contemplate that it will be released in North America is gigantic!

This is a beautifully produced sage for children and adults alike. Mighty spend was made of computer imaging and, as a result, the live-action characters see like they are walking through a world of paintings. The fine, haunting soundtrack of songs that complement the scenes in the movie only adds to the artistic quality of the work.
I highly recommend it.
Finally a computer generated share of illustrative fiction that is haunting and pretty and very noteworthy like paintings reach to life. The dreamlike imagery and lovely soundtrack produce for a must have annual Christmas prove for adults and children. Truly exquisite!

Star Blazers: The Quest for Iscandar Fraction VI, contains episodes 22-26 (out of 26) of the first season of the cult-favorite Americanized Japanese Anime series from the early 1980′s. Also included in the special DVD features is a detailed intention chronicling the Star Forces adventures to and from Iscandar.
For the uninitiated, here’s a rundown of the situation. In 2199 Earth was under attack by an “inferior” alien run called the Gamilons. The Gamilons bombed earth with “planet bombs” which destroyed the planet and emitted high levels of radiation, thus driving mankind into underground cities. In one Earth year the planet would become uninhabitable. Queen Starsha of Iscandar offers mankind hope in the originate of the Cosmo DNA which would cure all mankind from the radiation sickness. She sends Earth a message along with mighty technology that will allow mankind to disappear to Iscandar to procure the Cosmo DNA. Earth’s youngest and brightest reach together to originate Star Force to go to Iscandar to score the Cosmo DNA. Their faithful battleship is the Argo, a renovated WWII era navy battleship remade into a Starship. There is honest one minor dilemma though, Iscandar is 148,000 Light Years away. No one has ever traveled that far before. More importantly, the Star Force only has one year to recede there and wait on for a total of 296,000 Light Years…
This volume chronicles the climax and conclusion of the Star Force’s chase to Iscandar. It details the final cataclysmic battles with the Gamilons and the surprises they bag on Iscandar along with all the human drama, romance and emotion. Plus, all the intergalactic secrets are finally revealed!!!

Here is a summary of the five episodes included on this DVD:
Episode 22: “Battle of the Rainbow Star Galaxy.” THE decisive battle with the Gamilons. HEAVY casualties as the Star Force squares off with the summoned might of the Gamilon army under General Lysis.
Episode 23: The origins of Gamilon and Iscandar are finally revealed. As Captain Avatar’s health fails, Desslok lures the Star Force onto Iscandar where the planets treacherous atmosphere and climate may very raze the Star Force.

This volume is another solid trouble from Voyager. Included in the DVD special features of this edition:
1.”Interactive Mission Blueprint of the Star Force’s Bound to Iscandar and Befriend.” Yet another solid installment in DVD extras. The scheme shows all the points/places that the Star Force stopped at along their streak. Clicking on each point reveals a brief write up about the Star Force’s experiences at each destination.
2.Yet another shameless trailer: Volume I of the Comet Empire.
Overall, this is another broad installment in the series. The driving force late this edition is the collection of episodes themselves. The bittersweet conclusion to the “Quest for Iscandar” is unprejudiced such a distinguished fable. The DVD extra is a immense addition.
Summed up, if you were ever a Star Blazers fan, give this (and all the other volumes) a gawk. It’s immense for a slip down memory lane. If you’ve NEVER seen Star Blazers, give it a try. It’s a cult classic from the 80′s (along with other Americanized anime greats like Robotech, Voltron, Transor Z, etc) . The animation may behold slightly dated, but the storyline composed holds its occupy very well against anything out there today. Due to cramped distribution this explain may have slipped by the radar of a lot of people but it caught on like a fire with those who did rep it. Give it a peer and inspect what all the hype was about.

I objective finished watching this documentary, and I’ve decided to be very, very kind, despite how frustrated I was watching it. I’ll give it the paunchy five stars, because as a fan of “The Wood Spooks” this was the single best and most informative Maila Nurmi interview ever. When she is on the camouflage, she is racy, laughable, magnificent and incredibly keen. Absolutely astonishing.

Much of what she imparts here you may have heard before in prior Ed Wood related documentaries, but since those have always been edited in such a intention as to maintain focus on Wood, Maila’s epic was always a bit more vague. Here, although intercut with some of the most useless and irritating sound bytes from poseurs and fans alike, she is for the most fraction allowed to suppose her mind and dispute her myth, creating her enjoy chronicle and spinning her acquire web as she’d like it to be understood. This should have been the entire “documentary”. Point a camera at her, ask her a few guiding questions and let this woman mumble. Period.
Instead, the director interrupts her with clips of putrid reenactment footage, nonsensical and off topic comments from lowlifes, and fan-made performances in tribute to Vampira. This is his first error: We don’t wish to examine or hear from these people, and it hurts your film.

The second spot is that towards the kill, the movie forgets what it’s even about, turning into another round of contrary people tributing the tremendous misunderstood genius Ed Wood. Who cares how Lloyd Kaufman feels about the Golden Turkey Awards in this context? Especially since he’s only parroting sentiments made in The Thought 9 Companion by other contrary people. It has nothing to do with Vampira, and if Ed Wood is spoken about at all, as I’m jumpy he must be, it needs to be from the fair point of conception of Maila Nurmi and NO ONE ELSE’S. It’s called “VAMPIRA THE MOVIE” afterall. The director can’t seem to cease on topic.
And so, eye, what we have here is a splendid 6 LB Maine Lobster prepared by a deplorable chef. I’m grateful for the clips from Vampira’s worn television expose (which I’d assumed were gone forever) and for more of the wit and wisdom of this spacious lady. I’m upset that I portion my interest in her work with the characters that screech on squatting in this documentary. Yet, I’m gratified to add it to my library, and hope that by showing my enthusiasm for the subject matter, a more proper film will be made soon.
If you’ve ever been involving about who Vampira is and how her presence has affected the genre of goth/horror film, this DVD has the answers. Glamor-goul Vampira as she is today walks you through how it all began; and how films changed her life. She was Draw ahead of her time, and this shockumentary is a amazing tale of her saunter with insights and commentary from a host of goulish actors, musicians, filmmakers, etc. There’s lots of reflection on her appearance in Ed Wood’s film “Understanding 9 From Outer Spot”.
This is clearly a DVD made by a knowledgeable fan of feeble alarm films who brings many of the names of horror-hosts musty and unusual to one consuming discussion on the Queen of Dismay!
At the destroy of the shockumentary, we derive the chance to listen to the filmmakers and how they brought it all together. If you like apprehension films and are fascinated on how it all began, you’ll devour this immensely.

Riveting
If you know the history then you will enjoy this interpretation. If not you can take this as your history and learn of the reasoning and lack of behind this great time in history.
Riveting is to say the least as you expect this to be a documentary. Upon viewing you find that it is anything but. As with all BBC productions there is no equivalent. A few liberties were taken with history but you just do not care because you are too busy kibitzing.
The Six Wives of Henry VIII can not be told in less than six programs. Each program or play has an appropriate title that explains the next queen. If the quality of the writing varies that is because they have different writers and it shows. When I first say that the episode “Catherine of Aragon” was written by Rosemary Ann Sission I knew we had a winner as she was also the screen writer for “Strong Poison” in the Lord Peter Wimsey (1987) (TV) series. So you can image how amazed I was to find that the episode “Anne Boleyn” was written even stronger.
The unifying element is Keith Michell who plays a spoiled brat oops I mean Henry VIII. He starts out clean shaven in his pageboy hairstyle and ends up as scruffy as his personality by the last play. It helps to have some background information of the time and place. Yet they fill it in well as they describe the current events and how they were influences by Henry VIII and his Six Wives.

If you’re looking for gratuitous T&A, this is one of the best of all time. Betsy Russell in this movie might quite possibly be the most radiant performance by any actress ever. Her bareback horseriding scene, the seduction scene, and the stained clothes so I better buy them off and let them soak scene are all nothing short of fear arresting. Add that to a bunch or other bombshell schoolgirls walking around naked (the shower scene is fair… wow), plus the fact you’ve got Phoebe Cates staring and I don’t know what more you could ask for in this type of movie. Plotwise it’s also comely silly with many laugh out load moments (although it’s hard to cease focused on that with what you’re looking at) .
I have fond memories of being a horny 13 year dilapidated and catching Private School on cable benefit in the mid-80′s and it had always been a movie I longed to peek have a DVD release. Well…that day has finally arrived and I’m here to mutter you that I must have been dreary as a rock at 13 cuz Private School might be one of the worst pieces of drek to roam out of the 80′s teen sex comedy toilet you’ll ever perceive…and it’s fabulous. Seek, movies can sometimes be an entirely subjective thing if you have memories attatched to them. Viewing this film nearly 25 years later I was instantly transported aid to my teenage years and I spent more time reminiscing about the 80′s, my first crush, the kids I hung out with, etc. than paying attention to the flick. That’s not a abominable thing really. The script is immoral, the actors are painfully unfunny (especially the guy who plays Bubba who I consume stinking up a lot of these teen movies) and the cheese-ometer gets cranked up a few notches when a song sung by Phoebe Cates plays over a montage that makes Baywatch perceive classy.

Which brings me to Phoebe Cates…the sole reason this film even exists. Has there ever been another actress whose helpful looks radiate charisma when she herself is’nt really doing distinguished of anything? Don’t net me cross she turned out to be a gorgeous actress and her previous film “Posthaste Times At Ridgemont High” is about a zillion times better than Private School but truth is Phoebe Cates might have the most delicate face ever committed to film (which may elaborate why the Phoebe-Cult continued to this day) .
And yet….it’s Betsy Russelll who delivers the goods, who actually provides Private School with it’s truly sexy moments. Impartial notice the scene where she tries to seduce Matthew Modine by flaunting her perfectly toned legs in his face and philosophize me that she might not be the queen seductress of all time.
So if you’ve never seen this movie (and you’re under 30) you’ll probably wonder what all the fuss was about but if you remember 1983 and you remember waiting on line to play Pac-Man at the arcade, chances are you care for this film for reasons righteous taste can’t clarify.

Wow, dancehall Queen is not fair one of the best jamaican films i ever saw, but one the best ever. I am a Jamaican, so i could represent to the things in this movie. The acting was tall and so was the music. It is about a strong Jamaican woman, who tries to acquire ends meet by becoming a dancer. She is also very loud,she’s doesn’t let any man disrespects her and if you “Approach too conclude you might find burn”. There is a lot of obstacles in her procedure to overcome. I ain’t saying no more, bottom line this is a really wonderful dancehall film. “She’s a dancehall queen for life,got her explode like dynamite”!!!!!
