Pretty disappointing selection. First of all I reflect they could have had more episodes with this package. Here’s what I reflect of what they have chosen-
White Light (Parts 1 & 2) – When this episode came out it was a major episode because it introduced the White Ranger so it is quite understandable that it would be chosen for this selection.
Countdown To Destruction (Parts 1 & 2) – Simply the main reason to prefer this DVD. It is the best two Power Rangers episodes ever made. It is quite narrative in scope and featured the pivotal destruction of Zordon who originated the Power Rangers.

To The Tenth Power- Mountainous choice again and one of the best crossover events in Power Rangers.
Trakeena’s Revenge (Parts 1 & 2) – Lightspeed Rescue was probably the weakest Power Rangers series, and this is one of the best episodes of that series. Nice to stare a crossover with the Lost Galaxy Power Rangers but it fair doesn’t live up to its potential. Level-headed, not a abominable choice.
Forever Red- The incredible episode that featured various Red Rangers teaming up together.
Now as you can gaze I’ve splendid mighty complimented every episode on the DVD. But my jam isn’t with the episodes they have, it’s with what they don’t have. There also should have been an episode from each series- where are Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Time Force? Another plus would have been to have the very first episode of Ninja Storm. They call this the Best of the Power Rangers, yet they forget to include some of the best episodes such as Ninja Quest (Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4) from Considerable Morphin’ Power Rangers, as well as the final four episodes of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy and the opening and final episodes of Power Rangers Time Force. That’s why I’m disappointed with this DVD.
It probably won’t happen, but here’s hoping they have a volume 2, or inaugurate to bring out the entire series in boxsets.
My view as to why these episodes were picked:

White Light pt. 1 & 2-
This one is an faded fan current. It introduces Tommy as the White Ranger, with modern powers, weapons, and zord. Tommy is, as quoted by TJ in Forever Red, “A Myth”. First he came out as the perfect horrible Green Ranger, who no one could defeat. He then turned generous and fought Rita Repulsa. It has been rated # 9 at the top ten episodes list at [...]
Countdown to Destruction pt. 1 & 2-
This one is SOOOOOOOOO obviouse! This episode was the vast finale of not only Power Rangers in State, but, the 6 year era of Zordon, 6 years worth of villains, all the active rangers, and most importanly, Zordon. He was the rangers’ mentor for 6 years and was the greatest mentor they will ever have. He was trapped long ago in a Time Warp by Rita Repulsa. Now, all the UAOE is attacking to invade the universe for Dismal Spector. Who was chosen to attack earth, why, non other than Astronema, Andros’s long lost sister, brainwashed and turned wicked. This dramatic, high action mini-series was a mountainous pic to have on DVD!
It has been rated #2 as the top 10 episodes list at [...]!
To the Tenth Power-
This one was one of the greatest teamups ever, the State Rangers vs the Galaxy Rangers! With the return of the Psycho Rangers, and an episode with…TRAKEENA!!! This one is a approved by many fans! 2 of the greatest seasons!
Trakeena’s Revenge pt. 1 & 2-
This was released for a little time on VHS at McDonalds. It was aired as a 2 allotment mini-series later on Fox Kids. It features the return of Trakeena, her unusual army of Goulds, a unusual villain…Triskull, the return of the Galaxy Rangers, and the original rangers and villains, etc. It is another fan current!
Forever Red-
This episode has been quoted by many fans as the greatest episode ever! It features the return of all red rangers!!!, The Machine Empire, Serpentura, Bulk and Skull, Alpha, The Astro Megaship, as well as many past references! In this episode the surviving members of the Machine Empire, lead by General Vengix, are on the moon digging up the remains of Serpentura, the most much zord ever built, with it they will have enough power to raze earth, and avenge the defeat of King Mondo. It is up to all 10 red rangers (Jason (MMPR), Aurico (MMAR), Tommy (PRZ), TJ (PRT), Andros (PRiS), Leo (PRLG), Carter (PRLR), Wes (PRTF), Eric (PRTF), and Cole (PRWF) to defeat General Vengix before he and his army dig up Serpentura! This episode was the 10th Anniversuary special. It was a perfect choice to have on DVD!!! It has been rated #3 on the top ten episodes list at [...]!

Garfield’s Pet Force
This is a really funny and eye-popping movie that kids will love. There’s never a dull moment, the animation is brilliant, and Garfield actually demonstrates some redeeming qualities — he saves the universe! There’s also a really cool game on the DVD called Professor Wally’s Moscrambulator. If you’re a fan of Garfield, of superheroes, of comic books, this is a great movie for you.

I watched this movie with my 8 year old son. We both enjoyed the movie. I would not say it is the best movie of all time, but it is worth renting.

Movie Title: Seven Days in May Seven Days in May is available for streaming or downloading. |
“Seven Days in May” was a so-so book that John Frankenheimer turned into an absolutely smart movie. It’s an obedient cold-war drama, made at a time when tension between this country and the Soviet Union was at boiling point. At the center of the chronicle is President Jordan Lyman, a well-meaning, somewhat naive chief executive who has pushed through a nuclear disarmament treaty with the Soviets, which most of the country, and all of the military, terror the Soviets have no device of honoring. The stage is area for a political confrontation between the president’s supporters, who feel they must attend him whatever their private apprehensions, and his opponents, who terror he is selling the country out. Enter at this point a career soldier with political ambitions, General James Scott, who plans to assign his astronomical popularity to work in devising a way that he thinks will achieve his country, which is nothing less than a military situation to overthrow the government. However, loose lips can sink a ship, and a few chance words approach the ears of Colonel Jiggs Casey, a Marine torn between his loyalty to his general, General Scott, and his commander in chief, president Lyman. What makes a agreeable soldier, and what makes a apt patriot? That is the pickle Casey has to reach to grips with as he realizes that the clock is ticking, the status is underway, and there are less than seven days left before something very mountainous goes down.
The movie has minimal action and a lot of dialogue, but the tension is maintained nicely throughout, and the acting is uniformly edifying. Among the qualified cast, the standouts are Frederic March as the president, Burt Lancaster as General Scott, Kirk Douglas in one of his finest roles as Colonel Casey, and Ava Gardner, quiet drop-dead blooming, as Scott’s cast-off mistress, drowning herself in booze, self-pity and resentment. The final verbal confrontation between Casey and Scott reach the movie’s waste is one of the best I’ve ever witnessed on film. The movie grabs possess of you from the opening frames and keeps you riveted fair to the waste, all the while making you wonder, could it really happen here? Let’s hope we never salvage out…
There were a number of pleasurable political thrillers in the Sixties, and Seven Days in May is one of the best. Fredric March stars as the President who is trying to push through a nuclear disarmament treaty, but he is meeting a lot of resistance. Chief among them is General Burt Lancaster, who has decided to remove over the government to continue building America’s military. Lancaster has developed an clarify belief for his takeover, but his assistant, Kirk Douglas, has been left out. When Douglas begins to suspect something, the tension starts to rise. The dwelling sounds extraordinary, yet as written by the titanic Rod Serling and directed by John Frankenheimer, it is only too believable. The performances are all top notch by the stars, while Ava Gardner as Lancaster’s musty mistress and Edmond O’Brien as an alcoholic senator supporting the treaty shine in supporting roles. This is a sparkling movie that will hold you befriend to a time not long ago when the Icy War had stupefied the world. This is the kind of brilliant, tense thriller I wish we could seek more of these days.

Boycott Universal DVD’s![]()
Several previous reviewers are dead-on. Babe, is of course, a clever, funny, touching movie. It’s one of the few movies that I and my 3-year old can both enjoy over and over. But the marketing jerks at Universal have seen fit to force several lengthy advertisements on you every time you try to watch the movie. What’s more, they’ve coded them to be non-skippable, so you MUST sit through them every time you want to watch the movie (you can fast forward, but you can’t skip over them). This is offensive and intrusive in any dvd you’ve purchased (and arguably fraudulent as it’s not disclosed on the package), but it’s even worse with a movie like Babe that’s targeted largely at kids. First, it illustrates that Universal has outright contempt for parents’ rights to decide what types of films are, or are not, appropriate for their kids. Second, if you have a small child who really wants to watch Babe (or whatever), it’s difficult for them to understand why they should have to sit through 15 minutes of Universal’s marketing crap before the movie starts (something that’s not true with numerous other children’s DVD’s). Shame, shame Universal. I’d encourage you to rent, download, pirate, or borrow this DVD rather than buying it, at least until Universal ceases its offensive, dishonest marketing tactics.
A porcinely delightful movie!![]()
Babe was a runaway success in 1995. It even got a best picture nomination and in my mind should have won. This is a fantastic movie, sure to delight children from 2-100. Chris Noonan has created the modern farmyard parable. He deftly brings you into his world of talking animals centered around that most amicable of pigs, Babe. While the sheepdogs rule the farm, Babe warms the heart of sheep and dog alike, and eventually farmer Hoggett much to the chagrin of his wife who is counting the days to the next big feast. Ultimately Babe is spared as farmer Hoggett comes to realize he has a most unusual pig on his hands. Babe finds himself welcomed into the fold, rising to the ultimately status of being able to come into the house on miserable nights, at the expense of the house cat. All these animals are played wonderfully off each other. The voices couldn’t be better. Farmer Hoggett eventually puts Babe to the ultimate challenge, the great sheepherding competition, which brings out a raucous reaction from the crowd. But Babe soon silences them. This movie has everything one could want in a children’s movie and more. It deserves its place among the classics of all time.
you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll stop eating bacon!![]()
I was given some free passes to see this film right before it came out. I had seen the trailers, and they looked cute, but if I hadn’t gotten the free passes, I might have skipped over this gem. This is far more than a children’s movie.
The voice of the pig is absolutely perfect… sweet, innocent and believable. Babe’s tender heart will remind you of Wilbur from E.B. White’s “Charlotte’s Web” but this is a story in its own right… and there is no talking spider.
James Cromwell received an Oscar nomination for his role as Farmer Hoggett, a sweet, somewhat hen-pecked sheep farmer who wins the piglet as a prize in a county fair.
Babe is a lonely little piglet… he’s had to say goodbye to his siblings and his mother at a tender age and is thrust into a barn with all sorts of strange animals he’s never seen before. All of the animals, dogs, horses, the cows, etc. feel sorry for Babe and look out for him. There is rivalry with the top Border Collie, but Babe’s sweet and innocent disposition wins the hearts of all reluctant farm dwellers.
The farmer’s wife initially sees Babe as just a ham on legs, but the farmer sees more and finds a friend that changes his life.
It is impossible to see this film and not get at least a lump in your throat and many scenes will make you laugh outloud. I wish the DVD included more features, like a behind-the-scenes featurette outlining how they got the animatronics (which won a much deserved Oscar) to work. Perhaps it was felt that children would be dismayed that the pig really can’t talk or that it took nearly 30 pigs to make the film due to the speed in which they grow into 1-ton hogs… I’m not sure, but as an adult, i would have enjoyed seeing more features on the DVD. This is still a wonderful family film and unforgettable and sweet characters.

Another aesthetic documentary by David Grubin. Mr. Grubin is the finest documentary filmmaker working today, and that includes Ken Burns. David Strathairn does a fabulous job portraying Dr. Oppenheimer. The interviews with those who knew Oppie are favorable and each does a magnificent job in adding layers to this complicated yarn of an improbable man. The interviews with the biographers (Martin Sherwin, Priscilla McMillan, and Herbert York) are especially insightful. The reveal concentrates on only one of the “huge things” in Robert’s life — his role as scientific advisor after the war, although his Manhattan project work is also excellently described. His childhood is briefly but nicely sketched. Even his physics before the war is touched on, although exiguous is made of his bringing unusual physics fully into America (he was far more than fair a quick-witted professor at Berkeley) .

It makes sense to concentrate on his “trial” because that is where most of the drama lies. That is where he is most clearly seen as a victim. It even touches a itsy-bitsy on his self-inflicted wounds, especially in his inappropriate relationship with Truman and Eisenhower and their administrations. Robert was loved by physicists for his nurturing of original physics and was loved by the nation, for a while, with his Manhattan Project successes. But his guilt was so excessive that it truly unhinged him despite his broad intellect. His tactlessness with considerable people is only briefly hinted at. He made enemies, boy did he!
His personal life is slightly touched on. Robert fair wasn’t the type of person who could function well in a political setting. He was ill-suited to being a scientific advisor — his only advantage was his brilliance scientifically. But the decisions Truman and Eisenhower had to earn were not, fundamentally, scientific decisions. They were national security decisions, and Robert had no background at all in idea national security.

This is the biggest weakness of Grubin’s anecdote. Robert gyrated wildly in opining on many aspects of national security and he never gained the trust of those who he was advising. His choices in preparing for his “trial” were tactically horrendous. Compare him to, for example, Oliver North, who battled mightily in front of Congress and the nation. North knew how to fight on a political stage. Oppie didn’t. He let himself be tortured — unprejudiced like he did in childhood that time at summer camp.
Be determined to read Kai Bird’s and Martin Sherwin’s “American Prometheus” and Richard Rhodes’ “The Making of the Atomic Bomb” and “Sad Sun”.
David Strathaim is the perfect actor to play the beleaguered Robert Oppenheimer, even resembling him physically. I wish they had included the poignant episode where walking in the desert after the explosion of the first atomic bomb; a turtle crosses his map. He picks it up to bring home to his daughter. After a while he stops, turns around and goes support and places it again precisely where he took it with a articulate that he has already done enough injure to the world. This, for me has always summed up his conflict – building the bomb and as the film is careful to point out in several instances helping and advising how to descend the bomb to beget the most destruction.
What and where the hearings occurred that took his clearance away and seemed to kill him emotionally are described and recreated. Using transcripts of the trials Oppenheimer’s problems with the communist witch hunt are shown. Using genuine pictures of Oppenheimer and then the recreations of him by David Strathaim we examine the fair details of his mind and how it worked. What really comes out is Oppenheimer`s naivety in how his connections with communist party members would affect him.
It is curious and I wish they could have made clearer why General Groves chose him over noteworthy incredulity to head the Manhattan Project.
As with so many films of this genera the `talking heads’ can be distracting and or expressionless. I have especially found that students in school have an marked abominate to this expend of someone looking at the camera explaining their experiences. I have to admit they could give these interviewees their bit of `fame’ and then employ their narration over pictures and films rather than sitting and watching someone talking to the camera.
However, as with most DVD’s of the American Experience series the subject is well covered with big accuracy and a high interest factor to those who wish to learn more about history.
There are director’s comment in the extras, explaining who Oppenheimer was and what happened to him. A teacher’s guide is included by inserting the DVD into a computer
