For the last few seasons, each original season of South Park became my common. The trend almost continued with Season 9 but I don’t believe it is quite as solid as Season 8, but conclude. Aloof there are several slam-dunk episodes in this set: “Mr. Garrison’s Cherish Original V—,” “The Losing Edge,” “The Death of Eric Cartman,” “Follow That Egg,” and “Bloody Mary.” Either “Mr. Garrison’s…,” “Follow That Egg,” or “Bloody Mary” is my common, it’s difficult to determine. There are other proper eps as well like “Best Friends Forever” (which won an Emmy), “Erection Day,” “Two Days Before…,” and “Marjorine.” This site also has the controversial episode “Trapped in the Closet” about Tom Waft and Scientology that caused the “Chef” Isaac Hayes falling out. Jam-packed with quality SP humor taking unique events and issues waaaay over-the-top, here’s what you get:

Disc 1:
“Mr. Garrison’s Treasure Unusual V…” Kyle is glum that Jew’s can’t play basketball. Inspired by Mr. Garrison’s modern sex change, Kyle undergoes a “Negroplasty” (opposite of the “Caucasianplasty that Michael Jackson had) . What he does not realize is that the method is only for cosmetic purposes.
“Die Hippie, Die”: This is one of my least favorites of this season. Cartman detects signs of a Hippie Music Predicament Festival forming in South Park, but is build in jail for locking them in the basement. When the town sees the hippies taking over, they look Cartman’s relieve. Cartman’s plan: catch out the hippies with Slayer.
“Flit”: After Token wins a singing contest, the boys begin a talent agency to try to cash in on Token’s potential royalties. When another agent steals him away, the boys designate a original talent: The City Wok guy’s wife who has a penchant for singing ABBA songs and has ties with the Asian Mafia.

“Best Friends Forever”: Emmy award-winner. Did any fan of the early days of South Park eye that coming? Kenny is so superb at playing “Heaven v. Hell” on PSP that heaven has him killed so he can leave earth and grunt their armies. Before the colossal showdown, doctors on earth revive him to a “tomato” status where the large debate ensues. Spellbinding occupy on the “pull the whisk” deliver.
“The Losing Edge”: The boys dislike Small League and try to lose to waste their season and Stan’s dad’s dreams…of beating up a father of the opposing team during the residence championships. The Bat Dad: “You’re about to be bat dadded!” Hilarious!
Disc 2:
“The Death of Eric Cartman”: Cartman has done many abominable things, but eating the skin off the Colonel’s chicken is the last straw. His friends all ignore him to the point where Cartman believes he is unimaginative. He recruits the wait on of an ignorant Butters to try to give his soul peace to near the other side.
“Erection Day”: Jimmy is psyched to score the school’s talent explain but is having puberty issues. He goes on a quest to help his jam before his act, meeting Nut Gobbler. The Goth kids at the talent demonstrate play an anti-talent present song and then one of them says, “I hope we score.”
“Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow”: Stan and Cartman drive a boat into a giant beaver dam flooding the nearby town of Beaverton. While Stan is burdened down by guilt about the Beaverton residents stranded on their rooftops, the folks of South Park blame the event on global warming and barricade themselves from impending doom.
“Marjorine”: Cartman convinces Butters to fraudulent his occupy death and advance help as the unique girl in town so as to accumulate invited to the girls’ slumber party and catch their mysterious fortune-telling plan.
“Follow That Egg”: Noble episode addressing the joyful marriage snarl as only SP can. “Mrs.” Garrison’s class is paired up with eggs to learn about parenting (Token’s team is given a brown egg) . After Mr. Slave gets engaged to Stout Joyful Al, Mrs. Garrison goes on a campaign against jubilant marriage and conducts an experiment in his class.
Disc 3:
“Ginger Kids”: Cartman starts vicious rumors about kids with red hair and freckles and they commence to be discriminated against. To convey Cartman a lesson, Stan, Kyle and Kenny sneak into Cartman’s room, knock him out, and give him a ginger makeover. Cartman then starts the Ginger Separatist Movement. Cartman sees no irony in this.
“Trapped in the Closet”: The Church of Scientology believes Stan is the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard. When Stan doesn’t praise his acting skills, Hubbard-worshipper Tom Waft hides away in Stan’s closet. Meanwhile, Stan learns some disturbing things about scientology. Isaac Hayes fall-out episode.
“Free Willzyx”: A performing Orca whale at the sea park can communicate with the boys who possess he must return to his native planet, the moon, or he will die. That composite sketch of the kids is tall (especially Cartman and Kyle–although Kyle’s mother doesn’t consider it is a excellent likeness) .
“Bloody Mary”: Stan’s dad is busted for DUI and believes he has no power over his alcoholism disease. He needs a miracle. Beneficial news! A statue of the Virgin Mary is bleeding out her…uh…posterior. Too comic!!!
“South Park” is one of the most clever series programs in the entire history of American television. Because Trey & Matt (the creaters, cartoonists, writers, voices & honest about everything else) have a percise acuteness to satire and comedy. Each season it only gets better. This series has never “jumped the shark” because “South Park” is the type of series that doesn’t hold themselves too serious and doesn’t try to be anything they’re not.
Season Nine (includes a total of fourteen eps) of this modern-day classic is hands down, bar none, perfect television viewing. Some of the highlights from this season include: Mrs. Garrison’s gender reassignment operation, the sweet sounds of Sail, Jimmy taking matters into his gain hands and of course who could forget about Tom Wing being trapped in the perpetual closet! But my celebrated ep from this season revolves around my well-liked “South Park” resident, Eric Cartman; in this installmant, Cartman found out what it was like to be dull when the other boys killed him off in “The Death of Eric Cartman!”
I cannot wait for the Season Eleven Site to arrive out, later this year. And, next week is the Season Twelve Series premieres on “South Park” on Comedy Central!

Movie Title: Seven Days in May Seven Days in May is available for streaming or downloading. |
“Seven Days in May” was a so-so book that John Frankenheimer turned into an absolutely smart movie. It’s an obedient cold-war drama, made at a time when tension between this country and the Soviet Union was at boiling point. At the center of the chronicle is President Jordan Lyman, a well-meaning, somewhat naive chief executive who has pushed through a nuclear disarmament treaty with the Soviets, which most of the country, and all of the military, terror the Soviets have no device of honoring. The stage is area for a political confrontation between the president’s supporters, who feel they must attend him whatever their private apprehensions, and his opponents, who terror he is selling the country out. Enter at this point a career soldier with political ambitions, General James Scott, who plans to assign his astronomical popularity to work in devising a way that he thinks will achieve his country, which is nothing less than a military situation to overthrow the government. However, loose lips can sink a ship, and a few chance words approach the ears of Colonel Jiggs Casey, a Marine torn between his loyalty to his general, General Scott, and his commander in chief, president Lyman. What makes a agreeable soldier, and what makes a apt patriot? That is the pickle Casey has to reach to grips with as he realizes that the clock is ticking, the status is underway, and there are less than seven days left before something very mountainous goes down.
The movie has minimal action and a lot of dialogue, but the tension is maintained nicely throughout, and the acting is uniformly edifying. Among the qualified cast, the standouts are Frederic March as the president, Burt Lancaster as General Scott, Kirk Douglas in one of his finest roles as Colonel Casey, and Ava Gardner, quiet drop-dead blooming, as Scott’s cast-off mistress, drowning herself in booze, self-pity and resentment. The final verbal confrontation between Casey and Scott reach the movie’s waste is one of the best I’ve ever witnessed on film. The movie grabs possess of you from the opening frames and keeps you riveted fair to the waste, all the while making you wonder, could it really happen here? Let’s hope we never salvage out…
There were a number of pleasurable political thrillers in the Sixties, and Seven Days in May is one of the best. Fredric March stars as the President who is trying to push through a nuclear disarmament treaty, but he is meeting a lot of resistance. Chief among them is General Burt Lancaster, who has decided to remove over the government to continue building America’s military. Lancaster has developed an clarify belief for his takeover, but his assistant, Kirk Douglas, has been left out. When Douglas begins to suspect something, the tension starts to rise. The dwelling sounds extraordinary, yet as written by the titanic Rod Serling and directed by John Frankenheimer, it is only too believable. The performances are all top notch by the stars, while Ava Gardner as Lancaster’s musty mistress and Edmond O’Brien as an alcoholic senator supporting the treaty shine in supporting roles. This is a sparkling movie that will hold you befriend to a time not long ago when the Icy War had stupefied the world. This is the kind of brilliant, tense thriller I wish we could seek more of these days.

“Constantine’s Sword (First Hurry Features), based on the bestseller by James Carroll, is a search for the truth that comes face-to-face with persecution and violence in the name of G-d not only in the past but at explain as well. The film, directed by Oren Jacoby, examines the legacy that has been passed from generation to generation beginning with the Emperor Constantine and extending to unique day religious fanaticism.
The film plays like a detective tale. We follow Carroll as he goes into his maintain past and into the larger world where he finds Christian church violence against non-Christians. We go to the Air Force Academy where we explore evangelicals trying to bag converts within the armed forces of America and we view how religious influence can bring about serious consequences on American foreign policy. We are then faced with the examine of whether it is fanaticism fueled by religious fervor that threatens the unique world.
The title, “Constantine’s Sword” refers to the Christian dismal which caused the Emperor Constantine to bawl “in this notice you will conquer” thereby making the inappropriate a symbol of war rather than a symbol of appreciate and peace.
The film looks at the history of Christianity as a trend that caused oppression which led to the most deplorable crime of all, the Holocaust. It also looks at the reveal day and concentrates on the family of Mickey Weinstein and how it challenges the evangelicalism of the Air Force Academy.
This is perhaps the most radiant documentary I have ever seen and it mesmerized me completely. It exposes religion as an underlying and unhealthy trend in the original world and compares the religious fervor of today with the Crusades when so many were slaughtered in the name of G-d. This is a film that will fling and appall you. Hopefully it will also cause you to interrogate yourself in order to live a better and more fair life.
“Constantine’s Sword,” the movie version of John Carroll’s book, is now available on DVD; it can also be watched on-line if you have Netflix.
There’s a mountainous deal of autobiography in the film. Carroll’s father, Joseph Carroll was an well-known Air Force general; an FBI agent, Joseph Carroll was then sent to the fresh Air Force, commissioned a colonel, and within two years was a major general. He was the founding director of the Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations, and then the founding director of the Defense Intelligence Agency; it was he who brought the photos of Russian missles in Cuba to Kennedy’s attention.
The younger Carroll grew up on military bases, met John XXIII with his family as a teenager, and in the wake of the nuclear uncertainty of the Frigid War, opted to pursue those things that would last. His first mass was notorious at a chapel on an Air Force base; growing disillusioned with the war in Vietnam, and feeling called to follow the Prince of Peace, he slipped in fair a diminutive allusion in that first homily. He preached on Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones; he mentioned they had been burned by the sun. More than that, burned by napalm. Such a dinky rebellion-such a miniscule insult to the military-but enough to drive a wedge between James and Joseph.
Carroll was a priest from 1969-1974, increasingly active in opposing the war, which destroyed his faith in both governmental and churchly authority. In an interview from those days he notes the silence of the US Catholic hierarchy to the bombing of civilians in Vietnam and opines, “Were US bombers dropping contraceptives on the Vietnamese, the American Catholic hierarchy would have condemned it quickly; but we were dropping napalm, and they said nothing.”
These personal stories are sketched throughout the movie, which begins at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and the speak of aggressive evangelization of non-Christians, especially Jewish students, by evangelical churches in the place and by evangelical faculty, staff and students of the Academy. He interviews Academy graduate Mikey Weinstein, who was disturbed when one of his two sons then at the Academy told him of anti-Jewish slurs he had been subjected to, and of the aggressive promotion of “The Passion of the Christ” by the Academy.
Carroll uses this incident to commence into a discussion of two issues: the history of Christian hostility to Jews, and of the linkage of Christianity with military power. He visits Milvian Bridge outside Rome, and Constantine’s vision of a improper with the motto, “In hoc signo vinces,” becomes the guiding metaphor for the book-”Irascible and sword become one. Christianity turns violent.”
He surveys how this baptized violence spread across Europe, and became a means to unite feuding Christian kingdoms in a war against a popular enemy, the Muslim “infidel”-and against closer enemies, against whom Christians had a long-standing grudge.
Carroll relates how he grew up in a typical Irish-Catholic family, trusting in a holy church with holy saints, priests and bishops. Now he saw those “holy” priests and bishops calling for bloody conquest, even leading pogroms against Jews in the name of Christ.
He travels to Spain, where Jews were first forced to convert to Christianity; then, when Christians became suspicious of the integrity of those they had forcibly converted, the Spanish Inquisition was created to investigate and to punish. When Jews were expelled from Spain, many were welcome in Rome, until 1555, when chief Roman inquisitor Giovanni Cardinal Caraffa became Pope Paul IV, who restricted Jewish intercourse with Christians and created a ghetto in which they must live.
Though unusual popes, especially John Paul II, have taken immense strides to repair relations with Jews, Carroll doesn’t reflect they’ve gone far enough. John Paul denounced Nazi antisemitism, but blamed it on neo-paganism, refusing to retort that another fraction of its foundation was the legacy of Christian anti-Judaism, of accusations of “Christ-killer” and the blood libel. Only this can define the collusion of many Catholic prelates with Nazism. He goes to Trier, where one of the supposed relics brought aid from the Holy Land by Helena, the Robe of Christ, has been kept since the time of Constantine. The Bishop of Trier supported the National Socialists in the election of 1933, and to celebrate their victory, arranged for the Robe to be displayed. Vice Chancellor Franz von Papen represented Hitler, and, with the bishop, sent a telegram to Hitler pledging their mutual cooperation. While it was on exhibit, Eugenio Pacelli (later Pope Pius XII) signed the concordat with Hitler-protecting the institutional church while accepting Nazi rule. Pacelli might not have been “Hitler’s Pope,” says Carroll, but he was certainly “Hitler’s Cardinal.”
That same year Edith Stein wrote to the pope to warn of Nazi antisemitism and of the dim future that would face Europe’s Jews; five years later, now known as Teresa Benedicta of the Heinous, she lamented in her diary that the pope had never bothered to answer … and that all she had predicted had reach lawful. This wasn’t mentioned in her canonization in 1998; she was canonized as a martyr, despite the fact that she went to Auschwitz not because of her Catholic faith, but for her Jewish blood.
In Rome, the anti-Jewish legislation of Paul IV was rescinded when Italy unified and the pope was banished to the Vatican; it was revived by Mussolini, however, and when in 1943 Mussolini rounded up the Jews of Rome to deport to Auschwitz, the pope said nothing. A survivor says in the film, “If the pope had only taken the anxiety to go outside the gate-and not say anything, unprejudiced do as he did when Rome was bombed-just go outside the gate and stand in silence, with his arms raised in the compose of a spoiled, there might never have been a deportation. Italians and German Catholics would not have gone along with it.” But he never appeared.
Carroll affirms the strides taken forward by the Catholic Church in the latter allotment of the 20th century, especially the “change that mattered most” at Vatican 2, the decree, Nostra Aetate. But he wonders how grand it has sunk in. He speaks with Fr. Stanislaw Obirek, a Polish Jesuit, suspended by his order because, Carroll says, he wanted a fuller accounting for the Catholic Church’s role in Polish antisemitism.
Returning to the US, Carroll listens to the rhetoric of George Bush’s “war on panic”-language of “crusade,” “honorable vs. irascible,” “God is not neutral”-and hears echoes of past attempts to fuse dismal and sword That’s what frightens him about what he saw happening at the Air Force Academy; it appears to be a case of religion and military power coming together, with young evangelicals in the military inspired by their religious zeal to fight Middle East enemies. This isn’t the spirit of Jesus, but the spirit of Constantine, which is aloof alive after 1700 years.
The movie can be faulted for its disparagement of Scripture (Carroll accepts uncritically whatever Elaine Pagels tells him), but it remains a considerable testimony to the experiences of those who have been carve by Constantine’s sword.

I was looking forward to peer DOG SOLDIERS ever since I read a very agreeable article about it in a British apprehension film magazine. When I spotted the DVD here on amazon, I immediately ordered it.
DOG SOLDIERS revolves around a squad of British soldiers on a training mission in the Scottish highlands. Soon exclusive things begin happening. They encounter a badly wounded Special Operations officer, whom they rob with them. Attacked by werewolves, the squad suffers the first casualties but manages to accomplish a narrow speed with the serve of a young woman. After reaching a remote farm, things turn from abominable to worse when their car is destroyed by their devilish furry foes. Besieged, with no radio or phone connection, despairetly trying not to panick and running out of ammo, a fierce fight ensues with the almost invincible werewolves…

WOW! WOW! And again WOW! To my point of idea DOG SOLDIERS is one of the greatest alarm films of all time, exceptionally well written, fastpaced with a strong storyline and likeable characters, who are not the mere monsterfodder as usual. You actually care for the sympathetic guys ( with the exception of the special operations officer ) . It is a accurate pleasure to contemplate a fear flick without the usual cast of annoying teens. I also found it refreshing that DOG SOLDIERS lacks the comical humour considered indespensable by so many directors. The is very inventive and makes well-behaved expend of the locations. DOG SOLDIERS is relatively violent and gory ( the disembowellment of the sergeant made me wince) but it is not splatter for splatter’s sake. And a fright movie without CGI is a staunch viewing pleasure in itself.
Some remarks on the DVD:
You can settle between a widescreen and a fullframe presentation. As for extras, you have an audiocommentary, a featurette and two trailers, the international and the domestic one. The international one is widescreen, quite satisfactory, but gives away too noteworthy of the film, while the domestic one is presented fullscreen and doesn’t do the film justice.
Every few years a panic film comes along that simply wows genre fans. Maybe it has something to do with awesome gore effects, or a better than average space, or titanic performances by previously unknown actors; it might even resemble something like “Dog Soldiers,” a new film that contains all of the above mentioned attributes along with a nifty reworking of one of horror’s faded touchstones: the werewolf tale. Whatever it is that makes a fear film stand out, we need more movies that peruse like this one. “Dog Soldiers” seemed to arrive out of nowhere, like manna from heaven feeding weary dread fans slogging through the deserts of slasher film retreads and the current trend of mediocre remakes. The fact that this inspiring capture on the werewolf yarn comes from the British Isles makes it even more powerful. The misty climes of the Scottish highlands are the perfect setting for such a bleak movie. Remember how successful “An American Werewolf in London” was when it took situation in the same bleak atmosphere? You collect that type of oppressiveness in “Dog Soldiers” as well.
No one really believes in werewolves anymore. The whole business about people changing into bloodthirsty wolves when a corpulent moon comes out objective doesn’t seem as scary in a world of serial killers and terrorism. And shooting a beast through the heart with a silver bullet or stabbing them with a silver blade? C’mon! Something as easy as that wouldn’t even turn Jason Voorhees’s head for a second! Yep, in today’s world you will need something considerable more alive to than a couple of hairy brutes roaming around in the woods once a month. Fortunately, you score worthy more with “Dog Soldiers.” How about an entire family of werewolves, a squad of heavily armed soldiers on a training employ in the wilds of Scotland, and a deserted house in the middle of nowhere? How about a guy valorous enough to retract on an eight-foot tremendous werewolf with his bare hands? How about enough gunfire to accomplish “Scarface” survey like a Disney film? If you mediate lycanthropes and assault weapons go together like milk and cookies, you will cherish this film.

The residence is seductively simple: a squad of army regulars, including a tough as nails soldier who recently flunked out of SAS training because he wouldn’t shoot a dog, runs into more than they can handle during a routine use out in the hills. They tell a group of SAS troops torn to pieces in the wild, and secure only one survivor of the group cowering nearby (who unbiased happens to be the guy who flunked our sturdy hero out of the SAS) . This colonel rants and raves about how there are more of “them” then we view, and how there’s no diagram to finish them, and other seemingly furious statements. One thing’s for certain: anything that can turn a group of SAS commandos into hamburger would send me running home to mother. The regular army guys perceive this misfortune, too, and choose to glide factual out of the hills and relieve to civilization.
Regrettably, whatever attacked the SAS guys suddenly reappears to wreak havoc on our group of heroes. While fleeing through the woods from these dusky figures, the men stumble upon a vehicle driving along a country lane. As it turns out, the car contains a handsome young lass who knows all about what’s going on in the woods. It’s werewolves out hunting for the night, she says, and as if to emphasis this point the lycanthropes attack the car. The group manages to pick up to a nearby house and barricade themselves inside, but the vehicle goes up in flames and now there is no draw out until morning. The rest of the film consists of one lengthy combat scene after another, as the soldiers consume machine guns, blades, and their bare hands to bear off the group of aroused wolves. Another thing: for some reason best left unsaid here, the werewolves seem to resent the soldiers holing up in this particular house. These guys objective cannot win a shatter.
With the exception of one scene well into the movie that strains the bounds of believability, everything works in “Dog Soldiers.” The characters are lively and well developed, especially the Sergeant leading the platoon and the rejected SAS soldier. Even the wicked SAS colonel who knows considerable more than he is letting on adds a fun dimension to the film. Throw in literally gallons of blood and gore, gallows humor dialogue, and pacing that fairly grabs you around the neck and you have a alarm classic for the ages with this gem. I should also mention that “Dog Soldiers,” at one point in the movie, actually made me jump so high out of my chair that I nearly hit the ceiling. You probably won’t contemplate this shock coming, and I won’t spoil it for you, but if you don’t react in some procedure when it happens, you’re probably comatose. I salute a movie that can inspire such a jolt in my jaded system. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if “Dog Soldiers” gets a sequel in the arrive future, if not for any sizable box office numbers then for heavy rental numbers and fervent praise from many awe fans. I could eye this film again and again without ever getting tired of it, and I consider you will like it too if you give it a chance.

There are many fine reviews of “Glory” to be found here. I feel the same blueprint about this fabulous film, and after touching on the legend I would like to talk about this DVD release(observe above) which is an outstanding quality and great value.
“Glory” is an exceptional film. A suitable legend of the Civil War that is both touching and inspirational. It depicts the sage of the first dusky unit from the North to be trained and actually go into battle. Led by their very empathetic but very young Colonel(played brillantly by Matthew Broderick), the 54th Regiment endures many hardships felt not only by being soldiers of this devastating war but as African Americans as well.Their spirit, pride and tears along the blueprint, is projected in this film by these incredible actors in a plot that will earn you feel all the difficulty and pride that they felt.

The cast includes Morgan Freeman as the Sergeant who is the motivating force unhurried the soldiers. His performance is stirring. Denzel Washington, awarded Best Supporting Actor by Oscar for his role as the runaway slave looking for a home will proceed you to tears(or at least effect a lump in your throat, which remains throughout), and Andre Braugher’s smile and tenacity will grab you and sustain you.The cinematography and sound(both also honored by Oscar) are lovely.Beautifully directed by Edward Zwick it is a war fable that is more than action, it is one you won’t soon forget.
Often, the different DVD editions wind up on the same product page. You may have found yourself on the page of the “Special Edition” of Glory. That is the 2 disc edition with lots of special features. If these are principal to you in a DVD than that is the one you should probably go with. However, if you really like this film, but don’t want to use as worthy for all the extras, this edition is identified by ASIN:0800177967. It is half the tag of the “Special Edition”,and is a heavenly transfer as well. You have the choice of viewing it in the modern widescreen(1.85:1) or a corpulent cloak version. The characterize is resplendent, absorbing, crisp and shipshape. Colors spectacular. Depending on your spot up the sound options are 5.1(Digital Dolby) or 2-channel surround.I watched it in the 5.1 and was very impressed. All the sounds of the Civil War were sure and obvious. The music astounding. It may be viewed in Spanish or French and has subtitles in English, Spanish and French also.
Whatever edition you settle, this a a film that is a blooming addition to your DVD collection. It is one that will be watched again and again. Thank you and relish…..Laurie
Being a Civil War reenactor, as a group we tend to be very skeptical of the historical movies that hollywood provides.Glory is probably the only movie that almost every reenactor liked and sung the praises for. Glory stands out as a masterpiece of this bad time in the nations history. The cast was outstanding. Broderick is entirely convincing in his role as the idealistic young Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who commanded ONE of the first all sad units of the Civil war. Morgan freeman captures the persona of the “wise, musty seargeant” that is a classic motif of the war movie genre. However to me the actor who steals the exhibit is without a doubt Denzel Washington. Washington gave even us rebs someone to care for(even as he was taking down 2 and 3 rebs at a time) as he went from the inflamed, rebellious young private(and for suited reason) to the glorious soldier.

The place of the movie is consistent, and came across as a honest Anecdote to the audience, and not honest a lecture. The film captured the extremely racist attitudes of the time, and the reveal hell that the characters went through to overcome it. Also the catch was large, especially the final climatic scene for the attack on Battery Wagner. When Shaw is killed by Confederates, the acquire picks up with a perfect tune as the 54th makes their final assault. But most importantly the movie does not bore the average viewer like Gettysburg did with its hours of talk. The movie takes a very wonderful yarn, throws in some vast characters, and follows it to a T. There is no wasted scene in Glory(which is more then we can say for other Civil war attempted movies) . This made it a joy for both Civil War buff and regular viewer alike.
Now for the stout sticking point. Historical accuracy. To this the movie scores a rather well come by. Certain the final battle was not 100 percent true, and even the earliar skirmish in the woods(known in the war as the Battle for Sol Legare Island) . But this movie was not a documentary. Its goal was not to give a blow by blow history of the 54th… objective to utter their general “anecdote”. With that intent, the movie greatly lived up to its accolades for its accuracy. The battle scenes were outstanding and gave war its “hellish” conception that was absent in Gettysburg to stout degree. Only Private Ryan beats this movie in its finish at showing the viewer a taste of War.
Glory has also been arguable the most influential Civil War movie of all time. Tens of Thousands of people who had never picked up a Civil war book in their life, became curved on this time period from Glory. That will perhaps be one of its finer legacies. How many african Americans(and Americans in general) became aware for the first time of those Blacks who wore a uniform in the Civil War from this movie. Countless. How many people do not know that honored legacy now that Glory has arrive out. Very few.
